Let’s get a terrible revelation out of the way first. Although we’re a husband and wife team here at Raise the Roof, we didn’t get married in a marquee.

Unforgivable as that sounds given the nature of our family business, there’s a reason. We know how much hard work goes into planning, pitching and perfectly presenting a marquee, and the thought and attention to detail that goes into the designing, dressing and on-the-day co-ordination of a big event. We take all of this stress away from our clients as standard, and so we didn’t fancy spending the days in the run up to the most special day of our lives working that hard! Could we have asked another company to do it for us? We could have done, but we know that with the best will in the world, it wouldn’t have been quite as spectacular as having one of our own marquees…

Here’s a little bit of info about the people who put the family into our family business…

Emma

The warm welcome…

I’m the first person you’ll speak to when you pick up the phone or drop a message across to Raise the Roof. What’s more, I’ll be the person who deals with your booking from start to finish, to make sure you’re truly looked after by someone who just ‘gets’ what you want and need from your marquee.

I love meeting new clients and hearing about their plans for their weddings or events. Knowing that I can help them create their dream day and exceed their expectations along the way is the reason we do what we do. Though I’m here primarily to give you a marquee that’s literally built around your vision, I’m also an experienced luxury wedding planner with more than 20 years of experience in the customer service industry, so you can feel free to snap up any of my planning or on-the-day services to make your day go without a hitch (so to speak).

I’ve got an eye for design and an ear for finding out everything I can about our clients in order to supply them with the marquee that meets their needs and makes their day. Weddings, parties, celebrations, corporate events… I love them all.

I also love that I get to work with my husband, Simon, at Raise the Roof, but we both make sure we get to enjoy space away from work by spending time with our beautiful daughter, Lacey; taking some time out for travel, exploration, and the odd shopping spree.

When you love your job and your business as much as I do, it can be tough to drag yourself away, but like any good party-goer, I always make sure I find time to sit back with a glass of crisp, cold prosecco and just chill out.

Raise the Roof? I’ll raise a glass to that!

The solid foundation…

When it comes to the practical, hands-on side of all we do at Raise the Roof, I’m your man! I lead on everything from site visits to set-up, making sure your marquee is built and finished to the highest standards possible. Sure, your marquee will be stylish and suited to your tastes, but just as importantly, it’ll be safe, solid and secure to ensure your guests can party away with complete peace of mind. We’ve all seen the YouTube video of that rogue wedding guest pole dancing around a marquee pillar… 

 

It may sound geeky, but I’m fascinated by mechanics, and have this drive (haha) to get to the bottom of how things work. This is why Emma and I love clients to come to us almost prepared to be disappointed by the fact that “a marquee probably won’t work” for what they want. Let me tell you that at Raise the Roof, yes it will!
